I’ve always loved jewelry.
I paid my way through college by selling jewelry and learning the trade. When I went back to graduate school, I had the pleasure of really sitting at the bench and learning from a master jeweler, Roy Voight from Voight’s Trade Shop.
Bench knowledge makes a huge difference in how you design and how well the jewelry performs, because you understand how it’s made. Since 1950, Roy carved every piece from a block of wax and then made a one of a kind mold before casting and setting it. In today’s world, computers help us to do much of that but a computer can’t understand how the piece will be worn and loved. Good design speaks to a customer’s heart and goes where they go, it’s more than just math.
I continued to develop as a jeweler by gaining skill and certification through the Gemological Institute of America. I’ve worked in this business to some extent for the last thirty years. I’ve developed an intricate network of amazing “friends” that just happen to be amazing jewelers as well. We take pride in telling your story through jewelry.
My life is robust and happy. I’m a wife, mother and animal lover. I look forward to making pieces that people get excited about. I like making things that I know will hold their value and be an heirloom for generations to come. We collect so much “stuff” in life, maybe the better strategy is to focus on beautiful things that stand the test of time.
